The Gypsy’s Wings!

Most of my life I’ve felt “at odds” with the concept of “home”.

I’ve always loved to travel, and it doesn’t matter where (well, not much). When I became a mother, however, my firm belief that children should have a security base, a home, motivated me to what’s often called a “nesting instinct”, and learning the necessary skills to do well at nest-making. It was great fun, and still my kids kept growing, and eventually one left the nest. (When we were home schooling, they named it “The Eagle’s Nest”. Subsequently, I used that name for my herb farm.)

One Eaglet having flown, I was caught between my inherent wanderlust and the need for a nest for my two remaining Eaglets. So we traveled a bit, putting down sucker roots here and there, picking up and moving again later.

Now my children are all grown and I found myself in a quandary…I want a home and I want to travel. The Universe laughed! And then, expecting a miracle (as Meema told me to), a dear friend of mine gave me wings!

A 28-year-old Fleetwood Southwind RV fell practically into my lap!

The previous owner took excellent care of her, the original manuals still in the unit with updates included over the years. Still, a couple leaks in the roof have caused some roof and wall damage inside while my wings were sitting on the auto lot at Mountain Tennessee Auto Sales, so we have a little work to do before we can fully fly.

Come enjoy the Wort Ways classes and instructionals are all taking place in this small, yet wonderful traveling home! Welcome Aboard the Gypsy’s Wings!

1. To: WORTWAYS re. “The Gypsy’s Wings”:

This is well written. And I like it.

The beginning sentence, “Most of my life I’ve felt “at odds” with the concept of “home” …” is so strong, and moving. (It’s a wonderful sentence, and applicable to so many people, with the changing of one word). In my case, you could replace “home” with “time,” and find me!

I’d love to read a collection of your essays.

Sincerely,
Valda DeDieu
